Why is the arrival time a window instead of an exact time?
Spartan's trucks all leave at 7:00 AM from the San Jose area, and Bay Area traffic varies, so we give a two-hour arrival window by region.
Why we quote a window
Because Bay Area traffic does not run on a timetable. Every one of our trucks leaves the San Jose area at 7:00 AM, and the drive to your door can take twenty minutes or well over an hour depending on the freeway that morning. A two-hour window is something we can plan around honestly, and the crew's call 30 minutes ahead tells you when to expect them.

What sits behind the window
Your move is the first job of the day for that crew. Nobody is finishing another customer's move before reaching you, so the only unknown is the road. A Tuesday morning on 101 or the Bay Bridge can swing by a lot from one day to the next, and an accident on 880 can add half an hour in minutes.
Distance from our base also matters, so the window starts earlier close to home and later for homes farther away. We cover the whole region on our service areas page.
Windows by region
| Where the move starts | Window | Why |
|---|---|---|
| South Bay, Peninsula | 8-10 AM | Closer to where trucks are dispatched |
| San Francisco, East Bay | 9-11 AM | Longer drive and heavier commute traffic |
Making the window work for you
- Plan to be ready at the start of the window; the crew often arrives early in it.
- Keep your phone handy for the 30-minute heads-up call.
- If you need extra time in the morning, ask us to aim for the later part of the window. You remain our first customer of the day.
- Put elevator reservations and parking around the full window, not one exact minute. Our moving checklist has the other morning-of tasks.
The local moving page explains what happens once the crew arrives and the clock starts.

Questions and answers
- Will the crew arrive at the very end of the window?
Usually not. We plan to start early, and the half-hour call gives you a precise heads-up.
- Is anyone else's move ahead of mine?
No. Morning moves are the crew's first job of the day.
- Can I request the later half of the window?
Yes. We can aim for the later part, and you will still be the crew's first stop.
- Why is the San Francisco window later?
The drive from our base is longer and crosses heavier commute traffic, so the window shifts an hour.
