The Town of Danville
Danville is an incorporated town in the middle of the San Ramon Valley, with Mount Diablo filling the view to the east. Its small downtown runs along Hartz Avenue and Railroad Avenue, beside the Iron Horse Trail. I-680 splits the town, and most neighborhoods hang off a few main roads: Diablo Road heading east toward the mountain, Sycamore Valley Road and Camino Tassajara to the southeast, and Crow Canyon Road at the San Ramon line. Blackhawk, east of town, shares the Danville mailing address but sits outside town limits.
Older single-story homes, townhomes and condos within walking distance of Hartz Avenue.
Where you live changes the move
Downtown and the old town grid
Older single-story homes, townhomes and condos within walking distance of Hartz Avenue. Curb space is limited near the shops, so the truck spot is the first thing we settle.
Sycamore Valley and Greenbrook
Family subdivisions on wide, oak-lined streets with two-story houses and two or three car garages. These are typically three or four mover jobs with an easy truck position in the driveway.
Diablo Road and the foothills
Larger homes on bigger, sloped lots heading toward the unincorporated community of Diablo, which has its own page. Expect longer carries, outdoor steps and, on some properties, private roads.
Tassajara side
Newer planned neighborhoods along Camino Tassajara, some with HOAs. Ask yours about move rules; if it wants a certificate of insurance, we provide it.
Recent Danville requests
Between mid-July and late October 2026 we had one Danville quote request, a move within town that completed. Across the Tri-Valley and San Ramon Valley (Danville, Alamo, San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton and Livermore) we received 9 requests in that period, not counting account work, and 6 booked or completed.
What Danville homes usually need
Downtown condos and smaller single-story homes fit our standard crew of three movers at $175 an hour. Sycamore Valley and foothill homes are often three bedrooms over 1,800 square feet or four bedrooms and up, which is a four-mover job at $235. Either way there is a three-hour minimum, then 15-minute billing, and weekends cost the same as weekdays. Blankets, tape, floor protection, wardrobe boxes for the day and furniture disassembly come standard on a full-service move.
How long a Danville move takes, and what it costs
Rather than quote a vague starting price, we pulled the hours from moves our crews completed between July and October 2026. The ranges are a guide, not a quote: your final number comes from the time on the job, billed hourly.
| Home size | Crew | Typical hours | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio | 3 movers, $175/hr | 3 to 4 hours | $525 to $700 |
| 1 bedroom | 3 movers, $175/hr | 3 to 5 hours | $525 to $875 |
| 2 bedrooms | 3 movers, $175/hr | 4.5 to 7.75 hours | $788 to $1,356 |
| 3 bedrooms, under about 1,800 sq ft | 3 movers, $175/hr | 7 to 12.5 hours | $1,225 to $2,188 |
| 3 bedrooms over about 1,800 sq ft, or 4+ bedrooms | 4 movers, $235/hr | 7 to 12.5 hours | $1,645 to $2,938 |
Figures use the middle half of billed hours from local moves we completed for direct customers July through October 2026, drive time between homes included, account and full-pack jobs left out. Boxes and other supplies are extra, and no job bills under 3 hours.
Family homes in Sycamore Valley and Greenbrook usually give the truck an easy spot in the driveway, while properties with longer carries, outdoor steps or private roads take more time.
Travel and arrival
Danville is about 34 miles north of downtown San Jose by I-680. You do not pay for the drive out. Morning arrivals in the East Bay are in a 9 to 11 AM window, and the foreman calls 30 minutes ahead. I-680 through the valley is slow at school and commute times, so a move from Danville to Walnut Creek or Pleasanton can stretch past 10 minutes; when it does, the drive between addresses is billed at double time under California rules.
Planning a Danville move
- Tell us which part of town you are in and describe parking at both ends.
- The Town has its own rules for vehicles on residential streets. If the truck cannot use your driveway, ask the Town what applies and we plan around it.
- HOA or condo? Get the move hours and send us the association name, mailing address and email for the free COI.
- Mark items needing extra care: pianos, art, glass tables.
- Leave cash, a money order or a Visa or Mastercard for payment. 3% applies to cards; we do not accept checks.

Questions and answers
- Do you move into Blackhawk too?
Yes. Blackhawk has a staffed gate, so add us to the visitor list and send any HOA insurance request. It has its own page with the details.
- Our downtown townhome has no driveway. Where does the truck go?
We look at the curb and any guest or loading spots with you before move day. If the Town requires anything for street use on your block, we plan the timing around it.
- How many movers for a four-bedroom in Sycamore Valley?
Four movers, at $235 an hour. That is our standard for homes with four or more bedrooms.
- Is weekend moving more expensive?
No. The hourly rate is the same every day.
- We are selling in Danville and buying in another state. Can you do both ends?
Yes. Long-distance moves are quoted differently from local hourly moves, so tell us the destination when you call. If the closing dates do not line up, we can hold your belongings in storage at a flat monthly price.
- Can we get a discount as repeat customers?
Yes, 7% for returning customers. A friend referral is 5%.
- Do you take the TV off the wall and rehang it?
We dismount it and can connect and set it up at the new house. We do not mount TVs on walls.
