Belle Haven and the Bayfront. East of US-101, Belle Haven is mostly single-family homes on short driveways, plus some apartments. Along the Bayfront Expressway, large tech campuses, including Meta's headquarters, sit next to a newer wave of big apartment buildings.
The Willows. Between 101 and Middlefield Road, tucked against San Francisquito Creek, the Willows has smaller older homes on leafy, sometimes narrow streets.
Linfield Oaks, Allied Arts and Felton Gables. Close to the Caltrain station and El Camino Real, these neighborhoods hold older cottages, remodeled family homes and some condos.
Downtown. Santa Cruz Avenue is the main street, with apartments and condos on and around it and along El Camino.
West Menlo and Sharon Heights. West of Alameda de las Pulgas the ground starts to roll. Sharon Heights, near Sand Hill Road and I-280, has larger homes, townhome complexes and condos on hillier lots.

Containers need a permit; trucks need a plan
Menlo Park requires an encroachment permit to leave a moving container or pod on a public street, for a stay of one week or less, and the application goes through the city's online permit portal. A moving truck that loads and leaves the same day is a different situation. For a truck we look at your street's parking rules with you and work out where it can stand, whether that is your driveway, the curb in front, or a building's loading area.
Apartments, condos and new buildings
Many Menlo Park moves start or end in an apartment building. Most managers want a certificate of insurance before the move. We issue it free once we have the HOA or management company's name, mailing address and email. Reserve the freight elevator and loading area for the same block of time, because time waiting on an elevator is counted as job time. Four at $235 an hour come out for a three-bedroom over roughly 1,800 square feet or for four bedrooms and up, which covers much of Sharon Heights. Two movers at $145 is only for very small loads. Billing starts with a 3-hour minimum and then goes by the quarter hour. The rate does not change on weekends. Furniture disassembly and reassembly, blankets, tape and floor protection are included, and packing supplies are charged as used. If your two addresses are more than 10 minutes apart, the drive between them counts double, as California regulations require.

A Belle Haven house on a short driveway usually moves quickly, while a building move depends on reserving the freight elevator and loading area for the same block, since elevator waiting is billed.
