What is Spartan's hourly rate for movers?
Our standard local crew is 3 movers at $175 an hour. A 2-person team runs $145 an hour and a 4-person team $235 an hour. Each figure covers the full crew plus our 26 ft truck, and it does not change between Monday and Sunday.

The longer answer
Rates by crew size
| Crew | Hourly rate | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 2 movers | $145 | Very small moves, or when a customer asks for two |
| 3 movers | $175 | Our standard team for most apartments and homes |
| 4 movers | $235 | 3-bedroom homes over 1,800 sq ft, or 4+ bedrooms |
David looks at the size of the home and the access at both ends, then tells you which crew fits. The moving cost guide shows how these rates play out for common home sizes.
How the clock works
Every local job carries a 3-hour minimum. Once those three hours pass, time is prorated in 15-minute intervals, so a move that wraps up at 4 hours 15 minutes is billed for exactly that. A few quick reference points for the 3-mover crew:
- Minimum charge: 3 x $175 = $525
- Each quarter hour after that: $43.75
- Each full hour after that: $175
Packing materials beyond the basics are added as used. Blankets, tape, wardrobe boxes and floor protection come with the crew at no extra cost.
What the rate does not change with
We keep pricing flat on purpose. Weekends cost the same as weekdays, and stairs, elevators, mileage and fuel never show up as separate line items. Those things can lengthen the job, and time is what you pay for. Read more about how we run local moves in the Bay Area.
More questions on pricing
More questions people ask
Is the $175 rate per person?
No. $175 an hour pays for all three movers and the truck together, not each mover.
Do rates go up on Saturdays?
They do not. A Saturday or Sunday booking is priced exactly like a Tuesday.
What is the smallest bill I could get?
With a 2-mover crew the 3-hour minimum works out to $435. With the standard 3-mover team it is $525.
Can I get an exact total ahead of time?
For hourly local moves the emailed quote is an estimate. A free on-site inspection gives you a not-to-exceed price instead.
