Can you move furniture between units in the same building?
Yes. Moves between units in one building are billed hourly with the 3-hour minimum, with no drive time. Stairs carry no fee and a COI is free.
Yes, unit to unit works fine
Yes. Moving down the hall, up a floor or from a second-floor condo to a first-floor unit in the same complex is a normal hourly job for us. Because there is no drive between the two addresses, double drive time does not apply at all.
How a same-building move is billed
| Item | How it is handled |
|---|---|
| Hourly rate | Same as any local move, crew and truck |
| Minimum | 3 hours, then 15-minute steps |
| Drive between units | None |
| Stairs | No fee, only the time they take |
| Waiting for a shared elevator | Billed as job time |
| Certificate of insurance | Free if the building asks |
Does the truck even come?
It does. The crew arrives in the truck, which carries the blankets, tools and floor protection. Depending on the layout, some pieces may roll straight from one door to the other, and some may ride in the truck to a closer entrance. Either way, the furniture is wrapped and the floors in both units are protected.
Things to sort out with your building
- Reserve the freight elevator, if there is one, for both units at once
- Ask the HOA or management whether they need a COI; send us their name, mailing address and email
- Confirm move-in and move-out hours, since some buildings limit them
- Find out where the truck can stop without blocking a driveway

Questions and answers
Is a move within one complex cheaper than across town?
Usually, since there is no drive time. The 3-hour minimum still applies.
Can you move just a few pieces between units?
Yes, though the minimum covers the first three hours whether you move four pieces or forty.
How fast can you get a COI to my HOA?
It is free, and we submit the request to our insurance agent once we have the building's details. We send it as soon as it is ready.
Will you take beds apart to fit through doorways?
Yes. Disassembly and reassembly of beds, sectionals and dining tables are included.
