Will movers transport food from my fridge and freezer?
We do not move food from your refrigerator or freezer. Our trucks carry no coolers or cold containers, and perishables can spoil or leak onto furniture and boxes during the day. Plan to take those items yourself, or work through them before the move.

The longer answer
What can go on the truck and what cannot
| Item | On our truck? |
|---|---|
| Meat, dairy, leftovers, frozen goods | No, take them with you |
| Open jars and condiments from the fridge door | No, they can leak |
| Canned goods and dry pantry items | Yes, packed in sealed boxes |
| Bottled drinks and oils that are sealed | Yes, sealed and boxed |
| Anything loose in a grocery bag | No, it needs a sturdy box |
A simple food plan for the last week
- About a week out, stop buying large amounts of frozen and fresh food.
- Cook down what is left in the freezer during the final days.
- The night before, pack a small cooler for your own car with anything you want to keep.
- Box unopened pantry goods tightly and tape the boxes shut, with heavy cans in smaller boxes.
- Empty and wipe the fridge so it is ready for the crew if it is coming with you.
Families with little ones
If you are moving with kids, keep snacks, bottles and anything needed for the day in your car rather than in a box on the truck. Our page on moving with kids and pets has more ideas for keeping the day calm, and the moving checklist helps you time the kitchen wind-down.
Questions people ask next
More questions people ask
Can I pack frozen food in a cooler and put it on the truck?
We recommend keeping coolers in your own vehicle. Perishables are not something we transport, even when packed.
Will you move my canned food and spices?
Yes, as long as they are closed, sealed and packed in sturdy boxes rather than bags.
What happens to food left in the fridge on move day?
The fridge has to be empty before we load it, so the crew will wait while it is cleared, which uses billed time.
Can I leave drinks in the fridge door?
No. Bottles in the door can open or break in transit, so the fridge should go on the truck completely empty. Sealed drinks can travel in a box instead.
