Yes, a refrigerator is a normal part of a residential move for us. It needs to be completely empty on move day, and if it has an ice maker or water dispenser hooked to a line, someone from your household should be there when we disconnect it.
Getting the fridge ready
- Empty it. Every shelf, drawer and door bin, freezer included.
- Dry it out. Wipe up any water so nothing drips onto other items in the truck.
- Plan the food. We do not carry containers for refrigerated or frozen food, so arrange to take it yourself or use it up before the move.
- Locate the water valve if your unit has a water line, and be on hand when it is shut off.
- Measure the space and doorways at the new place if the fridge is oversized.
How pricing works for it
We do not add an appliance fee. The fridge is wrapped, loaded and placed in your new kitchen as part of the hourly job, so it only costs the minutes it takes. A very large or built-in style unit may take longer to maneuver, which is why it helps to mention it when you ask for an estimate.
Water lines and hookups
Our movers are not certified appliance technicians. We disconnect and move appliances, but for liability reasons we want a person from your side present during any disconnection that involves a water line. The same applies when the fridge is put back in place at the destination.
