Spartan Moving truck parked in front of a modern home
Ask Spartan

What if my street has street cleaning on moving day?

Tell David the street-cleaning hours. When the schedule allows he can move your arrival to after the cleaning window so the truck parks legally.

Tell us the hours

Let David know the street-cleaning hours for your block as soon as you spot them. When the day's schedule allows, he can shift your arrival to after the cleaning window so the truck parks legally and you avoid a ticket.

A real example

One customer realized cleaning on their street ran 9 to 11 on a Monday morning, right in the middle of the usual arrival window. David moved the crew's arrival to 11 AM to 12 PM. The move went ahead as planned, just a little later, and the truck had a clear curb.

That kind of change depends on what else is booked. If a later start does not fit the schedule that day, David will tell you and work out another plan with you. Either way, it gets decided ahead of time, not at 9 AM on the curb.

Your options

OptionWhen it fits
Later arrivalWhen the schedule that day has room
Park on the other side or a cross streetWhen a legal spot is close
Temporary permit or loading zoneBusy San Francisco blocks with no legal spot

For how permits work in the city, see our SF parking permit guide.

Before moving day

  • Check the posted signs at both addresses, not just one.
  • Note which side of the street is affected and the exact hours.
  • Text or email David the details along with your addresses.
  • Add it to your moving checklist so it is not forgotten the week of.

Normal arrival windows are 8-10 AM in the South Bay and Peninsula and 9-11 AM in San Francisco and the East Bay, so cleaning hours often overlap. A later start is not always possible, so tell us early. Our San Francisco movers page has more on moving in the city.

Questions and answers

Can the truck park during street cleaning hours?

It should not, since that risks a citation. We try to time the arrival around the cleaning hours instead.

Will a later start cost more?

No. The hourly rate does not change with the arrival time.

What if my new street has cleaning too?

Send both addresses with their hours, and David plans around whichever matters more.
