Do you charge a truck fee, fuel or mileage on local moves?
No. On Spartan local moves the truck is included in the hourly crew rate, and there is no fuel or mileage charge. Travel to and from you is free.

We do not charge a truck fee, a fuel surcharge or mileage on local moves. The truck is part of the hourly crew rate, and fuel is our cost, not a line on your bill.
02The truck that comes with the crew
| Length | 26 ft box |
| Weight rating | 26,000 lb GVW |
| Capacity | About 1,750 cubic feet in one trip |
| Class | The largest truck that does not require a CDL |
| Curb space | Roughly 40 ft for the truck plus its ramp |
One truck of that size handles most homes in a single trip, which keeps the clock shorter. Where curb space is scarce in San Francisco, a parking permit can be processed through SFMTA, and if a street is too tight for a truck this long, David will flag it before move day after checking the address on Google Maps.
03Driving time that is free, and the part that counts
Our crews leave in the morning and drive to your pickup at no cost to you. When the last item is unloaded at the drop-off, the drive back is not billed either. The only road time on your invoice is the leg between your two addresses. If those addresses are more than 10 minutes apart, California's double drive time rule means that leg counts twice, at the regular hourly rate. Short moves within a neighborhood usually skip this altogether.
- To your pickup: not billed
- Pickup to drop-off: billed as job time, doubled if over 10 minutes
- Back from your drop-off: not billed
04Why we structure it this way
Keeping everything inside a single hourly figure makes it easy to compare us with other companies that add separate truck, fuel or travel charges. Before you choose, check how a competing quote treats each of these. You can read more on our local moving page and see typical totals in the moving cost guide.
