Can the movers take my TV off the wall?

Yes, if it comes down with standard tools. The TV is then boxed (TV box up to $50, or in Silver). We do not mount TVs at the new home.

Yes, with standard tools

Our crew can take your TV down from the wall as long as the mount does not call for specialized tools. Once it is off, it goes into a TV box for the trip. At the new home we can connect it and set it on a stand, but we do not mount it on the wall.

Q

How it goes on moving day

A
  1. Unplug the TV and any devices connected to it.
  2. The crew lifts the screen off its bracket using standard hand tools.
  3. It is packed into a TV box sized for the screen.
  4. At the new home, it is unpacked, connected and set on furniture, ready to watch.

A TV box costs up to $50 for screens up to 75 inches, and it is included with the Silver Package. Read about crew packing on the packing services page.

Q

Why we will not remount it

A

Mounting a television means drilling into walls, finding studs and trusting a bracket to hold a heavy screen for years. If it ever came loose, the damage could go well beyond the TV. That is a liability we leave to installers who do it every day. We are glad to take it down and get it to your new place in one piece; the hanging is for a specialist. Keep the screws and small parts from the old bracket in a labeled envelope so your installer has them, and plan the install for after the move rather than on the same busy day.

Questions and answers

QWhat counts as specialized tools?

A

Anything beyond the normal hand tools the crew carries. If you are unsure about your mount, send David a photo before the move.

QDo I need to tell you the screen size?

A

Yes. The size tells the crew which TV box to bring.

QIs there a charge to take it down?

A

No separate fee. Dismounting is simply part of the hourly job time.
