Can the movers protect my building's elevator walls?
Yes. Many buildings with an HOA or property manager hang their own fitted elevator pads on moving days, and those come first. If the building has none, or not enough, our crew can cover the walls with moving blankets so carts and furniture do not scuff the cab.

The longer answer
Who brings what
| Protection | Usually provided by |
|---|---|
| Fitted elevator wall pads | The building or HOA |
| Moving blankets as a backup for walls | Spartan crew |
| Carpet runners on hallway floors | Spartan crew |
| Certificate of insurance | Spartan, sent to the building at no charge |
Getting the building ready
- Ask management about pads. When you reserve the elevator, ask whether they hang pads and who puts them up.
- Request a COI if required. Send us the HOA or management company name, its mailing address and email. We pass it to our insurance agent and email the certificate when it is ready, free of charge.
- Reserve the elevator. Block enough time for loading or unloading, plus some margin.
- Tell us about tight spots. Narrow lobbies or a long hallway to the service elevator help us plan protection and time.
How elevator time is billed
There is no elevator fee. Time spent riding or waiting for the elevator is part of the job and billed at the hourly rate like anything else. A reserved, padded service elevator is the best way to keep that time short. In San Francisco, parking for the truck matters just as much; our SF parking permit guide explains when a permit through SFMTA makes sense.
