Monta Loma Movers for Eichlers and Mid-Century Homes

Monta Loma is a mid-century neighborhood in the north of Mountain View, between Central Expressway and US-101, with Rengstorff Avenue and San Antonio Road as its main approaches. Rengstorff Park and its pool sit at the southeast edge, the Shoreline area and the bay trails are just past the freeway, and the San Antonio shopping district is a few minutes west. It is mostly single-family houses, close to big tech campuses but with a small-town feel.

A large share of Monta Loma was built by Joseph Eichler and other mid-century builders. These houses are single-story, with post-and-beam framing, flat or low-pitched roofs, walls of floor-to-ceiling glass facing an atrium or backyard, and concrete slab floors with radiant heat. Many have a carport rather than a closed garage.

There are no stairs, which helps, but the glass needs respect. We keep wrapped furniture well away from the window walls, lay floor protection over the polished concrete or original tile, and carry tall pieces upright through the narrow front entry. Modern furniture with thin legs and glass tops gets extra blankets.

From mid-July through late October 2026 we got 4 quote requests connected to ZIP 94043, which covers Monta Loma and the rest of north Mountain View. All were local moves. The sizes listed were two three-bedroom homes, a two-bedroom and a studio, and 1 of the 4 has booked or completed so far.

Not every 94043 address is an Eichler. Toward Rengstorff Avenue and the expressway there are townhome complexes and apartment buildings, some with shared parking courts and assigned spaces. For those, the question is where a 26-foot truck can stand without blocking neighbors, so we ask about the guest parking and the walk from the court to your door when we come out for the estimate.

Many Monta Loma homes are three-bedroom houses under 1,800 square feet, which means 3 movers at $175 an hour. Monta Loma is about 13 miles northwest of downtown San Jose, where we are based. Our South Bay arrival window is 8 to 10 AM, with a call from the foreman 30 minutes before the truck pulls up.
