Do movers move food?
We do not move fridge or freezer food or other perishables. Bring them in a cooler in your own car.

Perishable food, propane, plastic bags, TV wall-mounting and 1-ton items: what Spartan does not move or do, and the reasons, in one list.
Most of what is in a home moves with us without a second thought. A few things do not, and it is better to know now than to find out with the crew standing in your kitchen. Every item on this list comes from a rule we apply on real jobs, with the reason behind it.
| Item or task | What we do instead |
|---|---|
| Fridge and freezer food, perishables | Nothing; carry it in a cooler in your car |
| Propane tanks, hazardous materials | They stay off the truck |
| Anything that may leak | Seal liquids and pack them in boxes |
| Items in plastic bags | Pack them in sturdy, sealed boxes |
| Unboxed TVs, mirrors, lamps | Box them, or we supply boxes as used |
| Mounting a TV on the wall | We dismount and set up, never mount |
| Reassembling a baby crib | We disassemble; reassembly only under your supervision |
| Water and gas connections without you | Someone from your side is present |
| Items needing a flatbed or rigging | We refer you to a heavy-item specialist |
We do not have containers for fridge or freezer food, and we do not move perishables or anything that might leak, because one spill damages everything around it. A cooler in your own car solves it.
For safety and stacking, all smaller items must be in sturdy, sealed boxes. Bags tear, slide off stacks and get crushed. The exception is bulky things like a vacuum, which the crew wraps in a blanket.
We take TVs off the wall when no specialized tools are needed, and we connect and set them up at the new home. We do not mount them; a mount that fails weeks later is a construction problem. Similarly, we can take a crib apart, but we are not permitted to reassemble it for liability reasons unless you are present, inspect it and take responsibility for it.
We disconnect and move washers, dryers and refrigerators, but we are not certified appliance technicians. When water or gas lines are involved, someone from your side must be present.
Anything around 300 pounds or more needs a photo first. Some items, like a pizza oven of about a metric ton we once declined, need specialized equipment and likely a flatbed truck; we will say so and suggest a specialist.
Not a rule but strong advice: keep jewelry, cash, passports, medications, laptops and important documents with you. With full packing, these are the only things we ask you to pack yourself.
Each rule is about what can go wrong in a loaded truck: a cooler that leaks onto a sofa, a bag that splits on a staircase, a TV mount that fails weeks later. Saying no to a handful of items is how we keep the rest of your home safe. When something is outside what we do, we still try to point you to someone who can help.
