Downtown Sunnyvale Movers for Apartments, Cottages and New Condos

Close to the station you find mid-rise apartment and condo buildings with garages, interior corridors and elevators, many of them recent. A few blocks out, the housing turns older: small single-story cottages and bungalows from the early and middle twentieth century, duplexes, and garden apartment complexes with exterior stairs. The Taaffe Street and Frances Street area keeps some of the oldest houses in town.

For the new buildings, the move turns on the elevator booking and the loading area. For the cottages, it turns on narrow doorways, short front walks and garages that double as storage.

Between mid-July and late October 2026 we received 9 quote requests tied to ZIP 94086, which covers downtown and a large part of central Sunnyvale. Eight were local moves and one was long distance. Where a size was listed, one-bedroom homes came up four times, two-bedrooms three times and a three-bedroom once. So far 2 of the 9 have booked or completed.

Street parking near Murphy Avenue is shared with diners and shoppers, so the truck spot needs thought before the day. Many apartment buildings want movers to use a garage entrance or a marked loading space, and some ask for a certificate of insurance; we supply that at no charge once you send the management name, mailing address and email. The farmers market and downtown events can close streets, so check the city calendar before you pick a weekend date. If public curb space is the only option, ask the city whether a temporary no-parking permit is needed; we help you plan it.

A downtown one-bedroom or two-bedroom apartment is normally a 3-mover job at $175 an hour. Two movers at $145 make sense only for a very small load, and 4 movers at $235 are for three-bedroom homes over 1,800 square feet or anything with four bedrooms. There is a 3-hour minimum, then 15-minute increments, and Saturday costs the same as Tuesday. Time spent waiting on an elevator counts as job time, so a booked elevator window saves money.

The table comes from final invoices on our own recent local moves, sorted by bedrooms and priced at the crew rate for each size. Easy access and packed boxes pull a move toward the low end. You pay only for the hours the move takes, with a 3-hour minimum.

Near the station, a reserved elevator and loading area keep a condo move toward the shorter rows. In the older cottages, boxes packed and the garage cleared before we arrive do the same.

We are based in San Jose, about 8 miles east of downtown Sunnyvale, and the morning arrival window for the South Bay is 8 to 10 AM. The foreman calls 30 minutes before arriving. Driving to you is free. If your new place is more than 10 minutes from the old one, California rules double the drive time between the two addresses; most moves within Sunnyvale stay under that.
