What a Baywood house asks for
Baywood is a small, settled neighborhood on the west side of El Camino Real, where San Mateo begins to rise toward the Hillsborough line. It is almost all single-family homes, most of them decades old and built in a mix of traditional styles rather than one tract design. Lots are generous by Peninsula standards, the houses sit back behind lawns and front walks, and big street trees shade most blocks.
That age shows up on moving day in specific ways. Front doors open onto a porch with a few steps. Inside, a staircase climbs to the bedrooms, often with a landing and a turn. Floors are hardwood, sometimes original, and walls are plaster that dents more easily than drywall. Driveways tend to be single-width, running past the house to a garage at the back, with plantings and a side gate along the way.
