How do movers pack a large mirror?
Large mirrors go in a custom crate the crew builds from boxes, billed as used. Silver includes mirrors, large frames and glass tops.
How we handle it
A large mirror always travels boxed. When a standard carton is too small, the crew builds a custom crate from moving boxes around the mirror, padding the face and corners, and seals it closed. The materials are billed as used, or they fall under the Silver Package if you choose it.
Building the crate, step by step
- The glass face is covered with wrapping paper and bubble wrap so nothing presses directly on it.
- Corners get extra padding, since that is where mirrors most often chip.
- Boxes are cut and joined to the mirror's exact size, creating a snug sleeve.
- The crate is taped shut and marked so the crew knows which way is up and which side is glass.
- In the truck, it rides on edge, braced so it cannot shift.

Cost and the Silver option
On the standard rate, the boxes and wrap used for a crate are listed with your other materials. With Silver, mirrors, large frames and glass tops are covered by the $35 hourly add-on instead. Homes with several big mirrors or a lot of wall art often compare both totals at the end of the move. If you want to prepare, take down mirrors that hang on picture wire and lean them against a wall away from foot traffic; heavier hardware-mounted ones the crew can handle. No. Mirrors have to be boxed. Blankets protect furniture surfaces, not glass.
