What the end of a move looks like
- Last items in. The crew unloads the final pieces and removes blankets and wardrobe boxes.
- Truck check. The team confirms the box is empty, including corners and the cab.
- Walkthrough. The foreman goes room by room with you.
- Settle up. Time is totaled and you pay the final bill.
- Tip, if you choose. Tips go straight to the movers.
What to look at during the walkthrough
- Beds and tables assembled and steady
- Large furniture placed where you want it; much easier to shift now than later
- Wardrobe boxes emptied and clothes hung
- Boxes in the right rooms
- The old home: closets, cabinets, garage and patio empty

Paying and tipping at the end
On a local move you pay once the work is done, by cash, money order, Visa or Mastercard. Cards carry a 3% fee, debit included, and are processed right there. Tips are never part of the price and never required. When people do tip, 10 to 20 percent is customary, and it goes to the movers directly, in cash, by Venmo to a mover, or added to the card.
